ANNOUNCEMENT - Carcinogenic chemicals were found in rubber flooring

As part of a campaign to check the compliance of rubber floorings placed on the Cypriot market with legislation on hazardous chemicals, products with contents exceeding the statutory limit were identified. The samples were collected by the Department of Labor during inspection in November 2018 and were analyzed for their content in eight Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH).

The results of the campaign revealed that five of the seven aggregate samples taken by six different companies did not comply with the restrictions contained in the European REACH Regulation. The companies were notified to immediately halt the sale of these floors in the Cypriot market.
